Gaming

Last week we played games for 2 hours, we played the wii fit, xbox kinect, xbox, ps2 and the DS. I really enjoyed playing the kinect because it was more active and was really fun. I did find the game on the ps2 really good for education because it opened up plenty of opportunities to include the children e.g. asking the children what they could see around them and asking them where in the world they think they are in the game. Although I found it pretty boring to be honest, we found it hard knowing where to go after a certain point, but that may be due to our lack of patience. The session was really fun, we all enjoyed and certainly got carried away at some points, we found the DS pretty boring too, I gave up trying with that not long after starting because I didn't really understand how to play the game.

Weekend away with the girls!

In 8 days I am off to butlins on an adult weekend with the girls, and let's just say I CANNOT WAIT!!! On the way back from big pit we stopped to get our t-shirts we had made....They are FAB!! My nickname on the t-shirt is GOBBY...typical, Emily's fault ofcorse!! Big Pit...well...that was an experience! It wasn't as compact as I thought it would be (thank god), I never was keen on compact spaces!! I'm glad I actually went down the mine, I saw it for myself which helped me understand how horrible and frightening it must have been!

At the moment I'm here waiting the result of the debate, not that I think we've won....it's really hard trying to argue something that you really agree with. The fact that there wasn't many of us in at all didn't help! We just got the result, 42 out of 100=/ shameful!!! Although we did strongly agree with the other team, their team worked well together, were well researched and knew what they wanted to put across!! If I was a judge I would have awarded them too! We should have researched more and been better prepared. Gaming in education should definitely be balanced and it would most definitely keep their attention. :)

My Project:)

Since starting my project I've been questioning everything, like CAN people really change? if so, What does it take to change that person? and Why do we always find the need to want to change someone? shouldn't we be happy with the way that person is? I mean isn't that the person we started off knowing and grew closer to? We all make mistakes, who wants a perfect friend or family member? It's like everyone has a checklist that makes up the 'perfect' or 'ideal' friend, it's the checklist that everyone craves, not the actual person. I also heard someone question, 'does love actually exist?' she made a very good point of adding 'noone can explain what it feels like, so how do we know it exists?' it made me think...when asked what love feels like I'm left puzzled and non-responsive, what does it feel like? do we all feel differently? some may say love is being willing to do ANYTHING for someone but the most common answer is...'you know when your in love...you'll just know' but how? If love does exist...then there must be a wide range of it between a wide range of people, parents and children, couples, pets and pet owners, friends...the project has really caught my interest and it's made me integed to look into things a lot more when it comes to problems of the heart:)

Mezz's reflection on uni life:)

Student life as Mez

I came to Swansea Metropolitan University to do Educational Studies because I was unsure of what to do after sixth form. When it came to choosing a subject I choose Educational Studies because it was the only course that stood out to me. I also wanted to move out of my parents house to have some freedom and to experience life on my own, although I don't live that far from my parents so my mother does my washing for me every week:)
